Do you know how to extend the life of a laser cutter?

After a certain period of use, laser cutting machines may encounter various issues, including reduced lifespan. To ensure longevity, it’s essential to perform regular maintenance. Here are some methods to extend the life of your laser cutting machine:

Replacement of Water and Cleaning of the Water Tank

  • Weekly Maintenance: Clean the water tank and replace the circulating water once a week. Ensure the laser tube is filled with circulating water before operation. The water quality and temperature directly affect the laser tube’s lifespan. Use pure water and keep the temperature below 35℃. If it exceeds 35℃, replace the water or add ice cubes to cool it down (using a cooler or two water tanks is recommended).
  • Cleaning Process: Turn off the power, unplug the water inlet pipe, let the water flow into the tank, open the tank, remove the water pump, and clean it. Replace the water, restore the pump, and run it for 2-3 minutes to fill the laser tube with circulating water.

Cleaning the Fan

  • Dust Accumulation: Over time, solid dust accumulates in the fan, causing noise and reducing exhaust efficiency. When suction or smoke exhaust is poor, turn off the power, remove the pipes, clean the dust, and reinstall the fan.

Cleaning the Guide Rail

  • Bi-Monthly Maintenance: Clean the guide rail every half month. The guide rail and linear axis are crucial for guiding and supporting the machine. Corrosive dust and smoke can affect processing accuracy and cause corrosion, shortening the equipment’s lifespan. Regular cleaning ensures high processing accuracy and stability.

General Maintenance Tips

  • Daily Cleaning: Regular cleaning and maintenance are essential to extend the machine’s life. Neglecting maintenance can significantly impact the machine’s lifespan. Be proactive in keeping the machine clean and well-maintained.
